HARPSWELL — The trustees for the Orr’s Island Library recently announced the receipt of three grants to aid in the completion of their nearly five-year building and renovation project.
First announced in 2008, the first shovel hit the ground in September 2009. Now there is a final list of elements to be completed that will bring the project to a close.
To finish the project, the Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation has awarded the library a $25,000 grant, the Davis Family Foundation has provided a $5,000 grant, and the Alfred M. Senter Fund has awarded a $3,000 grant.
Built in 1905, the Orr’s Island Library building was originally built as a cottage.
The library also has recently expanded its hours to: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 1 to 6 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
