PORTLAND — Maine’s credit unions have launched their third search for a creative, tech-savvy individual to represent Generation Y (ages 18 to 25) as the “spokester” for their Young & Free Maine program.

Connecting with young people through social media networks, local events and more, the spokester will continue to develop entertaining educational content, tips and tools to help members of Generation Y manage their day-to-day lives and finances. The program’s current spokester, Kylie Keene, will complete her one-year term in July.

“It’s been a busy year for Maine’s second Young & Free spokester, Kylie Keene. From blogging about everything from money-saving tips to mouthwatering weekly recipes, and driving the bright green Chevy Cruz throughout the state to interview the subject for her next ‘On the Road’ video, she’s been making a real connection with Maine’s 25 and under crowd,” said John Murphy, president/CEO of the Maine Credit Union League.

From now to May 24, people between the ages of 18 and 25 are invited to apply for the spokester job. The winner must showcase an ability to relate to Generation Y while demonstrating his/her creative tech-savvy. To enter, applicants must submit a 60-second YouTube video and write a blog post that demonstrates their writing, editing and creative skills. The videos and blog posts will be posted at www.YoungFreeMaine.com. Maine’s credit unions will narrow the submissions down to three finalists. The winner will then be selected by an online vote by the public, which will take place from June 7 to 18.

Once selected, the spokester will participate in events throughout the year, write daily blog entries and post weekly videos to the YoungFreeMaine.com website. A job opportunity loaded with perks, the winner will also receive a smart phone with a paid contract for the year and an Apple laptop, which the spokester will be able to keep at the end of his/her term. The spokester will also have use of the Young & Free Maine vehicle.
