BAILEY ISLAND — The homecoming of Mary B. Hilbert took place on Thursday, April 25, 2013. She enjoyed her final earthly days under the loving care of her husband, Barry Hilbert, residing at Bailey Island, ME. She was 77 years old having fought a brave and valiant battle with cancer.

She was born Mary Jeanne Bennett on September 29, 1935 in Thompson Falls, MT. She was the eldest of four children to Rev. W. Roy and Alice Smith Bennett. She was the sister to LeDrew Bennett, Maple Grove, MN, Fletcher Bennett, Sarasota, FL, and Susan Sturgeon, Frederick, CO. She spent many years in the Camden/Rockland area and had been a head-teller at Peoples Heritage Bank, participated in Red Hat Society luncheons, was an active golfer, online bridge player, and a member of PEO. She spent many hours watching her family splash in the pool and hosted numerous lobster feeds with friends from near and far. She loved feeding and watching the birds outside her window. She kept a watchful eye on the lobster boats as they passed in and out of

Wheeler’s Bay at her summer home in Spruce Head.

Her legacy lives on in her children, Katherine (Jim) Raab, Deerbrook, WI, Peter (Teri) Christie, Rancho Mirage, CA, and Chris (Kaarie) Christie, Rockport, ME; five grandchildren, Nate, Molly, Hayden, Olivia, and Sophie; and one great-grandchild, Bentley.

Mary will be remembered by her family and all who knew her for her unconditional love and deep friendships.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 11:00 with a luncheon to follow at the Elijah Kellogg Church in Harpswell, ME.
