BUXTON – A longtime Buxton selectman, Clifford L. Emery, and Peter E.W. Burns won three-year terms on the Board of Selectmen, and Buxton voters approved the Maine School Administrative 6 school budget in a light voter turnout on Tuesday.

Burns, with 303 votes, topped a four-way race for the two available selectman seats with Emery, an incumbent who has served 18 years on the board, finishing second with 258. Ronald E. Usher trailed with 216 backers and incumbent Dianne M. Senechal, 167.

Emery said Wednesday that’s he’s “very pleased and proud” that Buxton people re-elected him as selectman. It’s “something I really enjoy doing.”

“I appreciate support of the voters,” Burns said.

Buxton townspeople will vote on a new municipal budget in the town meeting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, in town hall, 185 Portland Road.

“We have to vote on our budget not knowing what revenues are coming from the state,” Emery said. “It’s a quandary.”
