I’m very concerned about the threat of tar sands to South Portland. Two 70-foot chimneys spewing toxins into the air at Bug Light will ruin us. Nothing is more important than our health. Real estate values will drop and all the progress South Portland has made over the last few years will reverse. We will become yet another smelly, polluted community.
The people who claim the Portland-Montreal Pipe Line does not have this plan on their agenda are lying. They also claim they are not affiliated with ExxonMobil; this is also untrue. ExxonMobil is a shareholder in the company. What they care about is the billions of dollars they can make piping tar sands through our state, not our well-being.
Please Protect South Portland and vote for the Waterfront Protection Ordinance on Nov. 5.
