TOPSHAM — Voters on Tuesday elected Marie Brillant to a second term on the Board of Selectmen, and Bill Thompson to his first term.

Brillant received 1,008 votes, while Thompson earned 893 in uncontested races.

Scott McKernan and Holly Kopp were also re-elected to the School Administrative District 75 Board of Directors without opposition.

McKernan received 971 votes, while Kopp got 957.

Brillant has lived in Maine since 1997 and has worked as a cook at Mt. Ararat Middle School. Her tenure on the Board of Selectmen has been the Val Halla Drive resident’s first involvement with a town board or committee.

Thompson, of Arbor Avenue, fills the seat vacated by Selectman Jim Trusiani, who did not run again. Thompson ran unsuccessfully twice before, in November 2012 and in a special election last January.

He works as an analyst at Bath Iron Works, and retired from the U.S. Navy in 2007 after 24 years. He served 11 of those years in commands at Brunswick Naval Air Station.

Thompson has been secretary of Topsham’s Finance Committee, where he has served since 2009. His term on the committee expires in 2015, but Thompson said he will step down if elected to the Board of Selectmen.

McKernan, of Barrows Drive, has served two School Board terms, and Kopp, of Beechwood Drive, filled an unexpired term before being elected to one of her own.
