Clouds have moved into the region and you can be sure today will not even come close to Saturday weather-wise.

I think it was a good thing the sun sets early this time of year, for if it got dark at 8PM, my 8 hour cleaning up of leaves and the like would have turned into 12.   It’s funny what causes me anxiety in life.  Leave on the lawn for example drive me crazy and I get made fun of for wanting to not see even one leaf on the yard before the first snow.   That’s probably a bit more insight into my mind than you need or even want, but I actually find it fascinating how much better I felt after the yard was cleaned up yesterday.

While I am not done with the fall chores, if it did snow tomorrow, which it will not, I could live with what’s left until spring.   Temperatures once again reached well into the 50s yesterday with Portland hitting 53 in the afternoon.

There will be a lot of clouds around today with temperatures about the same as yesterday. However, since there is a lack of sunshine it won’t feel as nice.  A shower or two could impact the area later this afternoon, but most shower activity holds off until after midnight and into the first part of Monday.

Overnight milder air will continue to stream northward.   If you check your thermometer around dinner and then again when you get up Monday morning, it will likely be warming in the morning than it was the evening before.

The warm air also contains quite a bit of moisture so a period of gusty showers, with even the chance for thunder is on tap Monday morning.  It’s going to feel like spring tomorrow with many areas hitting 60F!

As the front passes out into the ocean a return to chilly conditions resumes for the rest of the week.  It will be typical second half of November stuff with daily highs in the 40s and overnight lows in the 20s.  The coldest day this week is going to be Wednesday, when like last week, the mercury struggles out of the 30s.  The ground is going gain a layer of frost this week that will make it harder to play outside.

The next chance of any precipitation come next weekend when a system could bring a few rain or snow showers to the area.  I am not expecting any major storm however.

The week of Thanksgiving is still 7 days away with the actually holiday a full 10 days off.   Early indications are for a storm system to possibly bring inclement weather Tuesday or Wednesday before colder and drier air arrives for Thursday.  Over the next week I will be refining the Thanksgiving forecast each day as new information becomes available.

Around the House This Week I know some of you are already thinking about Christmas trees. Did you ever consider there are great trees you can add to the landscape that make great Christmas trees? Even if you don’t decorate the tree, it will still be a wonderful addition in the landscape.
