BRUNSWICK — John J. Oldham, 80, of Brunswick, passed away peacefully, at his home, with his family by his side, on Monday, Nov. 25, 2013.

He was born in Cumberland, RI, on April 14, 1933, the son of John J. Sr. and Harriet (Hampson) Oldham.

He grew up in Cumberland, RI, and graduated from Cumberland High School. John then joined the United States Army and proudly served his country for two years. Upon returning home he began working with his father in the family business, John J. Oldham & Son Electrical. He worked hard and upheld the family name with honor as he built up the business to what it became, until his retirement in 1998.

In 1970, on a blind date, John met Sandra Andreozzi. The couple were married in 1985 and resided in Massachusetts until retiring to Brunswick, Maine in 2006. John was an avid outdoorsman, he had a passion for playing golf, enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Boating and snowmobiling were favorites of his, since he lived on waterfront property. There were very few occasions that you would ever find John inside, unless the Red Sox were playing, he was a big fan!

John was a man with a big heart, he loved spending time with his family and was a very proud grandfather. He will be sadly missed by all those that loved him, especially “Tara,” his faithful companion, who will miss him the most. “Tara” and “Lucy” were his special girls, as he had a love for his dogs. John is predeceased by his brother, Bob Oldham. He leaves behind his wife of 28 years, Sandra of Brunswick; sons, John Oldham III and Gary Oldham both of Massachusetts and David Oldham of Rhode Island; a daughter, Elizabeth D’Amelio (Steve) of Massachusetts and stepson, John Sigillo (Stephanie) of Rhode Island; grandchildren, Teresa Palana, Jaime Oldham, Victoria Sigillo all of Rhode Island and Sarah D’Amelio of Massachusetts and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that if you wish to make a donation in John’s name to please send to: Bath Area Family YMCA, 303 Centre St., Bath, ME 04530.

There will be a memorial service held later in the year.
