Maine State Police are asking for the public’s help with the stabbing of a woman that took place Monday night in either Wilton or Chesterville.
Steve McCausland, state police spokesman, said a 33-year-old woman from Readfield drove herself to Farmington Hospital after she suffered a stab wound to her arm.
The woman told police that her 2006 Suzuki broke down on McCrillis Corner Road near the Wilton-Chesterville town line. A man in a white Chevrolet pickup truck stopped to help her and then assaulted her, she said.
The woman fought back and her assailant fled, she said. She was able to get her car started and drove herself to the hospital.
He is described as being 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a slender build, a goatee. He was wearing a mad bomber hat. The incident took place some time after 7 p.m.
Anyone with information concerning the assault or the suspect should contact state police at 207-624-7076.
