WESTBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — A Westborough man charged with repeatedly stabbing his 72-year-old mother has been held without bail at a dangerousness hearing.

The Telegram & Gazette reports that a judge in Westborough District Court ruled Wednesday that 44-year-old Daniel Uhlman is a danger to society.

Authorities say Uhlman used kitchen knives to stab his mother in the head and torso on Feb. 13 in their home. He is charged with assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a person over 60, and mayhem.

The woman called police and was found in a bathroom “bleeding profusely.” She survived.

Her son was caught walking down the street nearby covered in blood.

His lawyer argued that he has strong ties to the area and no violent criminal history.
