Winthrop police are seeking the public’s help in identifying an armed robber who wore green pajama bottoms and a mask when he held up the cashier at the Circle K Convenience Store and Gas Station in Winthrop early Tuesday.
Winthrop police said the robbery occurred at 3:29 a.m. at the store on Main Street when a lone man showed a handgun and demanded money from the cashier.

A news release from police described the robber as a white man with brown eyes in his early 20s who is between 5 feet 7 inches and 6 feet tall. He wore a white mask, a dark hooded sweatshirt with “Support the Twins” printed on the back, bright green pajama bottoms and white sneakers.
The man fled on foot with an unspecified amount of cash.
Winthrop police Detective Peter Struck said the search for the robber continued through the early morning and into late afternoon Tuesday. Struck said police are continuing that investigation and following up on leads.
Anyone who can help identify the robber is asked to call Struck or Winthrop Police Chief Joseph Young Sr. at 377-7227.
The store is open around the clock. It was open for business on Tuesday even as police continued the investigation.
In December 2011, a nearby Rite Aid pharmacy at 16 Peck Farm Road was robbed by a man who threatened to use a weapon but did not display one. Anthony R. Caballes-Mabe, then 18, of Augusta, was arrested and charged with that robbery several days later.
He pleaded guilty in December 2012 and was sentenced to eight years in prison, with all but three years suspended, and remains at the Bolduc Correctional Facility, according to the website of the Maine Department of Corrections.
