BIDDEFORD POOL — James A. Hussey, 79, of Pool Street, passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 19, 2014.

He was born in Biddeford on Aug. 3, 1934, the son of the late Allan and Maryabbie (Norwood) Hussey.

After attending school, James went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Army.

Throughout most of his life, he was employed as a carpenter and was well-known in the Biddeford Pool area for his skills as a carpenter and maintenance man.

James was a racing enthusiast and enjoyed watching NASCAR events.

He was very active in the community as well. He helped handicapped children, served as a Scoutmaster, and was a member of Dunlap Masonic Lodge in Biddeford, Kora Shrine Temple in Lewiston and Biddeford Pool Union Church. He was a longtime member of the Biddeford Pool Fire Department.

He is survived by: two sons, Daniel F. Hussey of Biddeford and William J. Hussey and his wife Pearl of Biddeford; sisters, Laura McKenney of Biddeford and Marjory of Florida; stepdaughters, Diane Spring of Worcester, Mass., Barbara Cariddi of Buxton and Gail Cloutier of Saco; two grandchildren, Cory and Tyler; and two great-grandchildren, Jared and Emily.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Biddeford. Arrangements are with Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, Saco. www.dcpate.com.
