BIDDEFORD — Simonne Bergeron, 97, of Biddeford, died Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford.

She was born Aug. 22, 1916 in Biddeford, a daughter of Telesphore and Malvena (Gendron) Marcotte.

She was educated at the Guinea School on Guinea Road through the eighth grade; later, she earned her GED through the Biddeford Adult Education Program.

On June 3, 1939, she married Francis X. Bergeron at St. Andre’s Church in Biddeford.

She enjoyed crossword puzzles and puzzles, gardening, reading, and watching soap operas. She also had an interest in genealogy.

Simonne was preceded in death by: her husband, Francis, on Nov. 10, 1967; and all of her 12 siblings.

She is survived by: five daughters, Rita Belanger and her husband Rock, Jacqueline Leach, and Muriel Tardif and her husband Armand Jr., all of Biddeford, Priscilla Miles and Madelene Jasmin and her partner Gilbert Gray, all of Lyman; five sons, Paul Bergeron of Utah, Philip Bergeron and his wife Elaine and Ronald Bergeron and his wife Sandy, all of Arundel, Robert Bergeron and his wife Donna and Raymond Bergeron, all of Biddeford; 34 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be no visiting hours. A graveside service and burial will be on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford. Arrangements are by Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. To share condolences online, visit www.hopememorial.com.
