An 85-year-old Ellsworth man and a man and woman from Bangor were the victims in a crash Tuesday evening on Route 1A in the Hancock County town of Dedham, police said Wednesday.
Richard Olson, of Ellsworth and Des Moines, Iowa, was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe that crossed the center line, striking a GMC pickup driven by Phillip Carter, 32.
Olson, Carter and his passenger, 25-year-old Roxanne Papken, were all killed.
Police said they do not know why Olson, who was headed toward Ellsworth, crossed the center line.
Route 1A was closed for more than five hours. It was reopened around 11 p.m.
