Upscale retailer Anthropologie is coming to Maine in 2015.

Officials from the Philadelphia-based retailer, which sells clothing, jewelry and home decor, confirmed Wednesday that they plan to open a store at 60 Pearl St. in Portland next year.

Anthropologie is moving into an 8,600-square-foot space the ground floor of 60 Pearl St., at the corner of Pearl and Middle Streets, said Tim Soley, founder of East Brown Cow Management Co., which owns and manages the building. Although he doesn’t know when the retailer plans to open, he is fitting out the space for the building’s newest tenant now. The space was previously occupied by the Portland area Chamber of Commerce.

This is the retailer’s first location in Maine. Anthropologie is a sister company to Urban Outfitters, which opened at Middle and Exchange streets in 2011.

Anthropologie has 193 locations worldwide, including three in Boston. In its most recent fiscal year, the company had $1.3 billion in sales, up 13 percent over the previous year. Anthropologie opened a total of nine locations and closed two last year.
