PORTLAND — A Sunday-night collision between a bicyclist and motorist on Forest Avenue may have been alcohol-related, according to city spokeswoman Jessica Grondin.
Steven Bowie, 43, of Portland, pedaled in front of a northbound 2005 Chevy Impala driven by 61-year-old William Bickford of Westbrook, Grondin said Monday in a press release. The accident occurred around 7:45 p.m. near 1871 Forest Ave., between the Maine Turnpike and Riverside Street.
Bickford was not injured, and Bowie was treated and released at Maine Medical Center, Grondin said. The accident investigation ruled out excessive speed.
“Alcohol may be a factor for the bicyclist,” Grondin said, adding the accident was still under investigation.
