PORTLAND — Max Chabot hit Patrick Viola for a 26-yard touchdown pass with six seconds left to lift Deering over Massabesic 26-20 in a Class A football crossover game on Friday night at Memorial Stadium.

Massabesic (1-3) had led 20-14 at the half before the Rams (1-3) scored two touchdowns in the final minutes to seal it.

Marshwood 61, Kennebunk 20

SOUTH BERWICK — Brett Gerry scored on runs of 2, 54, 73, 28 and 58 yards to lead Marshwood past Kennebunk in a Class B football game on Friday night.

Gerry finished with 289 yards on 14 carries. The Hawks (4-0) also got a 46-yard rushing TD from quarterback Luc Blanchette, who hit Jake Lebel for a 36-yard score in the first quarter.

Kennebunk’s three scores all came through the air. Quarterback Donovan Connor hit Liam Studley for a 58-yard TD in the first to give the Rams an 8-6 lead, and then found Don Dubois for 49 yards on a slant route as Kenenbunk (1-3) egained the lead 14-12 at the end of the first quarter

Marshwood then rolled off 20-straight points before a Donovan 6-yard TD pass to Thomas Wildes made it 30-24 at the break.

Girls Soccer

Thornton Academy 3, Marshwood 1

SACO — Thornton Academy got first-half goals from Cassidy Cochrane, Haley DaGraca and Katherine Gillespie as it knocked Marshwood from the ranks of the undefeated 3-1 in an SMAA girls soccer game on Friday at Hill Stadium.

Tori Daigle added two assists for the Golden Trojans (6-1), who also got five saves from Lexi Nason.

Megan McLean scored for the Hawks (6-1-1) on a penalty kick.

Westbrook 3, Sanford 2

WESTBROOK — Westbrook’s Marissa Martel scored on a rebound with 19:45 to play as the Blue Blazes withstood a Sanford rally in an SMAA girls soccer game on Friday.

After Emma Berry and Sophie Manning gave the Blue Blazes (1-6) a 2-0 lead in the first 23 minutes, Abby Brown got one back before halftime for the Spartans (2-4-1).

Summer Camire then tied things up at 2-2 with 24:05 left before Martel’s winner.

Sanford’s Kyla Bragg made 21 saves in the defeat.

Old Orchard Beach 2, Waynflete 0

OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Ariana Giguere converted on a penlty kick five minutes into the game and then scored again with four minutes to play as Waynflete downed Old Orchard Beach in a Western Maine Conference girls soccer game.

OOB (2-4-2) goalie Tiffany Leclair made nine saves, including on a penalty kick in the second half.

Julianna Hardwood made 6 saves for Waynflete (4-1-1).

Field Hockey

Sanford 3, Westbrook 1

SANFORD — Ally Plante scored a goal in both halfs as Sanford downed Westbrook in an SMAA field hockey game on Friday at Goodall Park.

Plante opened the scoring by knocking in a rebound from a Makayla Garvin shot in the first half.

Marissa Nance then scored off a pass from Katie Johnson with 17 minutes left to make it 2-0 before Nance set up Plante for the Spartans’ third four minutes later. Abby St. Clair scored a consolation late in the game for the Blue Blazes (1-6-1).

Sanford (6-2) goalie Sara Goldthwaite made six saves and got some help from Kelsey Lizotte-Johnson and Ashton ruby, who made a defensive save apiece.

Massabesic 9, McAuley 0

WATERBORO — Massabesic scored six first-half goals on the way to a rout of McAuley in an SMAA field hockey game on Friday.

Logan Champlin led the way with two goals, while Emma Rutledge, Abbie Staples and Mackenzie Croteau each scored a goal and had an assist.

Mira Kuni, Sophia LaFrance, Lizzy Lord and Maggie Redman each chipped in a goal apiece as well for the Mustangs (3-4-1).
