DURHAM — David L. Edwards, age 68, of Durham, Maine, died on Sept. 23, 2014, at his home.
Born in St. Louis, MO, on Aug. 13, 1946, the son of Carl and Doris Edwards. He married his wife, Irene G. LaPlante, on June 7, 1969. He was the loving father of Daniel C. Edwards, of Newmarket, NH.
He retired from the U.S. Navy after 26 years. He later retired from L.L. Bean. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was also a big sports fan, particularly baseball.
He is survived by his son, Daniel and his significant other, Becky LaPense. He is also survived by his brothers, John and wife, Doris Edwards, of St. Louis, Michael and wife, Barbie, of St. Louis, Peter and wife, Barbara, of St. Louis, and sister, Kathleen Blomgren and husband, Lynne, of John’s Island, SC.
He was predeceased by his parents and wife, Irene.
Services will be held at Durham Friends Meeting on Quaker House Road in Durham, Maine, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4. A celebration of life will be held at the American Legion in Lisbon immediately after the service.
