Thanks to the kindness of L.L. Bean and others, the Portland Museum of Art is always free entry during the busiest period: Friday evenings!

Both our present PMA director, Mark Bessire, and our previous director have been heavily engaged and committed to great, thrilling shows to attract a wider audience and expanded local, loyal investment through wise leadership, to create a leading arts community in Portland.

The museum’s and the Arts District’s growth in the past decade has been profound, helping to accelerate the Maine College of Art, restaurants, stores, apartments, offices and “First Fridays,” all contributing to a greater city of Portland.
