LEWISTON — The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society invites the public to the ASPCA Mega Match-a-thon on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 17-19.

Thirty-three communities across the country are participating in this adoption event, thanks to the generosity and assistance from ASPCA and Subaru of America. While the local shelter’s goal is to adopt 150 or more animals in those three days, nationally the objective is to save more lives through this third annual Mega Match-a-thon Adoption Event.

During the three days, dozens of dogs, cats, puppies and kittens of many different breeds, sizes and colors will be at the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society. In addition to the adoptable pets at the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society, other shelters and rescues from around the state will also have pets available for adoption as the main goal of this event is to simply get pets adopted. All pets will not only be spayed or neutered, micro-chipped and up-to-date on vaccinations before going to their new home, they will leave the shelter sporting a new collar, leash and personalized ID tag.

Adoption fees will be waived on all adult cats (6 months in age and older) and adult dogs (1 year in age and older) throughout the three days. Adoption fees on younger pets will be as follows: $50 for kittens (under 6 months in age); $300 for puppies (under 6 months in age) and $150 for dogs (6 months to 1 year in age). Discounted adoption fees do not include “VIP Pets.”

The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society is located at 55 Strawberry Ave. in Lewiston.
