80 artists at festival

The sixth annual Yarmouth Art Festival will be held Wednesday, Oct. 22-Saturday, Oct. 25, at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church at 396 Gilman Road in Yarmouth.

The 2014 show features 80 Maine artists, from Augusta to Brownfield to Kennebunkport, exhibiting 162 pieces, selected by a panel of jurors from among nearly 350 pieces submitted. The jurors are artist Suzanne Harden; Anne Haas, Bowdoin College art librarian; and Elizabeth Moss, owner of Elizabeth Moss Gallery in Falmouth.

The show will be open Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. An artists’ reception, including music and refreshments, will be held Thursday from 5:30-8 p.m. Admission will be free for both the festival and the reception, with donations accepted.

The juried show, created in 2009 as a new venue for Maine artists, features painting, drawing, sculpture and photography.

Entry fees and sale commissions support St. Bart’s programs, including contributions and member support of local community services such as Friendship House, Yarmouth Community Food Pantry and St. Elizabeth’s Essentials Pantry in Portland.
