BATH — Ann Benson Feeney, 84, of Bath and Largo, Fla., passed away peacefully on Oct. 28, 2014, at her home with her family by her side.

She was the daughter of Edward and Francis Benson and grew up in Bath graduating from Morse High School with the class of 1949. During her teen years she spent one year on the island of North Haven attending school and living with her lifelong good friend, Eldie McDonald Wall. While still in high school she married Richard “Lefty” Gilmore and years later they would have three children. For the past 40- plus years Ann was married to and is survived by husband John J. Feeney, who was her true soul mate and she loved him dearly.

Ann was hired in 1965 as Clerk of District Court for Sagadahoc County. She eventually moved to the Eastern Cumberland District Court Clerk position in Brunswick retiring in 1987. In the early 1980s John and Ann moved to Main Street, Topsham, opening what would be a thriving antique shop for many years, 81 Main Antiques. For the next several decades Ann and John traveled up and down the East Coast doing antique shows, attending auctions and of course being snowbirds. More recently Ann lived between her cottage in the Tacoma Lakes region and her home in Bath in the summer and Florida in the winters.

Ann is survived by her loving husband John, two sons, Ben Gilmore and wife Bette of Woolwich, Kevin Gilmore of Bath, and daughter Suzi Ater and husband John of Bath, nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Ann was very spirited and fought with tenacity for those she loved. She will be missed by all.

At Ann’s request, there will be no funeral but rather the family will hold a pot luck gathering in her memory at her son Ben’s home at 746 Middle Road, Woolwich, on Nov. 9 from 1 to 4. Friends and extended family are welcome to attend.
