Republican Kevin J. Battle won a close three-way race for the Maine House of Representatives seat representing District 33, which includes part of South Portland.

Battle, deputy harbor master for Portland Harbor and a former South Portland police officer, took 45.9 percent of the vote, edging out Democrat Rosemarie DeAngelis, a former mayor of South Portland, who earned 43 percent. Andrew F. Reddy, a teacher from South Portland who ran as a Green Independent, got 10.3 percent of the vote. All of the candidates are from South Portland.
