Wells police pulled a body out of the surf on Moody Beach in Wells around 7 a.m. Thursday morning.

The Wells Police Department received a call from someone who was walking her dogs on the beach and discovered the body of an elderly woman body face down in the water.

A police official said the death is not considered suspicious and believe the body is of a local resident who lived near the spot where the body was found. It’s believed she was disoriented and ended up in the water.

The investigation has been turned over to the state Medical Examiner’s Office.
