BIDDEFORD — On Tuesday, a fire on River Road was contained primarily to a barn and caused only minor damage to the attached home, said a spokesman from the Biddeford Fire Department.

Captain Norman Melancon said multiple calls reported the fire at 25 River Road shortly after 3 p.m.

He said when firefighters responded to the scene “a great amount of smoke was showing and they found the barn was on fire.”

No injuries resulted from the fire, said Melancon.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, he said, and investigators from the Office of the State Fire Marshal are expected to examine the scene today.

However, said Melancon, “There is nothing suspicious about the fire.”
