LEWISTON — A Lewiston fire displaced a dozen people when it badly damaged an apartment building.
Authorities say the fire was reported at 1:40 a.m. Friday and was under control about 40 minutes later. There were no reports of injuries. Police say firefighters were concerned about the building’s close proximity to other apartment buildings on the street. The building that burned is a 2½-story apartment building.
American Red Cross spokesman John Lamb says the organization is meeting with the affected residents to provide food, clothing, support and shelter as it is needed.
