WEST BATH — Barbara Elizabeth Tasker Avery, 88, of West Bath, died on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014. She was born on Aug. 1, 1926, in Bradford, Maine, the daughter of Earl H. and Doris (Hunter) Tasker.

She attended schools in Bradford until 1941 when her parents moved to Bath. She attended Morse High School and graduated from there in 1944. After high school she worked as a teller at Bath Trust Company, then at the Office of Price Administration, Rent Control Office. After the death of her first husband, she worked for M.W. Sewall and Co. for 12 years as a bookkeeper and office clerk. She then worked at Bath Iron Works as an administrative secretary in the Materials Division until her retirement in 1989.

She was a communicant of All Saints Parish, St. Mary’s Church in Bath. She loved to spend time with her family and summering at THE Cottage at Meadowbrook in Phippsburg. She always looked forward to family reunions and holiday gatherings. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, line dancing and doing crossword puzzles in ink. She will be sadly missed by all those that loved her!

She was predeceased by her husband, John E. Belanger, in 1967 and a brother, Arthur Tasker, of Millinocket.

She is survived by her children Richard E. Belanger and his wife Julie of Arundel, Susan Belanger and her husband John Colombrares of Brunswick, Barbara Jo Belanger of West Bath, Janice B. Bensing and her husband Robert of Harpswell, Bette J. Gilmore and her husband Benson of Woolwich, John F. Belanger and his wife Karyn of West Bath, Mary L. Bean and her husband David of Rochester, N.H., David T. Belanger and his wife Patty of New Vineyard; 14 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, if you would like to make a memorial donation in Barbara’s name, the family requests you do this to the charity of your choice.

At Barbara’s request, there will be no visiting hours.

A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at 11 a.m. at All Saints Parish, St. Mary’s Church, Bath. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in the spring.
