The article Wednesday regarding state Sen. Bill Diamond’s proposal to reinstate the death penalty for violent sex crimes against children (“Maine lawmaker seeks death penalty for murdering a child in connection with sex crime”) quotes the senator as saying, “These child predators are not who you think they would be. They are police officers, teachers and members of the clergy.”
Is this statement meant to indicate that these are the only types of people who commit child sex crimes, or are there some words missing, such as “and the like” or “including”? I see the statement to be very limited and unprofessional as it is printed.
