An 18-year-old Caribou man died in a house fire Monday morning that fire marshals say he may have set himself.
Jordan McEwen’s body was found by firefighters just after 10 a.m. in a bedroom of a mobile home at 100 Dow Siding Road. The State Fire Marshal’s Office said McEwen died from smoke inhalation.
He had been living with relatives at the home since November, after the apartment house in Caribou where he previously lived in was damaged by fire. Fire marshals say McEwen is suspected of setting the fire in November and that he likely set Monday morning’s fire as well.
McEwen’s mother and brother also lived in the mobile home. Neither was at home at the time.
