Gorham police say the driver of a Dodge Ram pickup truck is lucky to have escaped serious injury Wednesday in a crash in which his truck hit a snowbank and landed on its roof.

Sgt. Michael Nault said the driver, whose name was unavailable, was on Route 25, near Dow Road, when he tried to pass a vehicle on the right. His truck hit a snowbank and spun out of control before landing on its roof, Nault said. That section of Route 25 is two lanes, but the deep snow had encroached into the road.

“He got sucked into a snowbank when he tried to pass the other vehicle,” Nault said.

The driver suffered a minor injury to his hand and did not need to be taken to a hospital. “He was very lucky,” Nault said.

The accident was reported at 3:17 p.m.
