BOYS

Ethan Winglass, Morse basketball: Winglass went over 1,000 points for his career when he scored 25 points Tuesday in a 68-40 win over Camden Hills. The senior is averaging 23.8 points a game. This is the second time this season that Winglass has been named Athlete of the Week.

HONORABLE MENTION

Hany Ramadan, Deering track: Ramadan won the 800 with a time of 2:01.93 in an SMAA meet. That was faster than the Class A state meet winning time of 2:02.12 last season.

Ben Malloy, Bonny Eagle, basketball: Malloy became the fourth boys’ player in school history to go over 1,000 career points during his 20-point effort in a 44-34 win over Westbrook. Malloy added 10 rebounds.

Garang Majok, Deering basketball: Majok scored 19 points Saturday in a 71-66 loss to South Portland and then added 20 points in a 69-64 win over Cheverus Tuesday.

GIRLS

Ashley Storey, Greely basketball: The Rangers’ 6-foot-3 senior center scored her 1,000th career point during a 26-point, 11-rebound performance in a 63-60 win over Cape Elizabeth last Saturday. She also had 18 points in a win against Fryeburg Academy and 21 points in a 51-19 win at Wells.

HONORABLE MENTION

Maria Valente, Gray-New Gloucester basketball: Valente passed the 1,000th career point mark during a 19-point game in a 60-36 win against Falmouth last week and then added 18 points in a win against Kennebunk and 12 versus Yarmouth as the Patriots improved to 16-1.

Abby Hamilton, Gorham basketball: Hamilton drilled five 3-pointers, including a buzzer beater to send the game to overtime en route to 26 points in a 65-56 win against South Portland. Hamilton added 14 points with four 3s in a win against Windham.

Samantha Curran, Thornton Academy track: Curran won the shot put in an SMAA meet with a throw of 35-feet, 10.25 inches. That bettered the distance which won at last year’s Class A state meet of 34-feet, 4.75 inches.
