BRUNSWICK

The Brunswick Police Department is asking anyone who may have seen a man approach a young girl and attempt to lure her into his car Wednesday afternoon, to call them.

According to a press release issued by Brunswick Deputy Police Chief Marc Hagan Wednesday afternoon, a man may have tried to lure an 11-year-old girl into his vehicle at around 1:30 p.m. in the area of Spring Street and Harriet Beecher Stowe School.

The man is described as a while male in his 20’s or 30’s, with curly blond hair and a beard, driving a white car. He reportedly drove slowly behind the girl, then next to her and attempted to make conversation before asking her to come closer to his vehicle. She would not approach the vehicle, however, and returned home without incident.

There are currently no charges pending at this point in the investigation.

“The incident raises obvious concern in the community,” the release states, “and the Brunswick Police Department is asking anyone who may have witnesses the interaction, or has any other information, to contact us at 725-5521.”
