I am writing in response to “Wildlife policies by ballot under fire” (April 6).
Does Maine really want to become a state where some of its residents are free to get enough signatures to place initiatives on the ballot, but others are prohibited by the state constitution from doing so?
Either we allow all Maine citizens to try to gather enough signatures for a ballot initiative, or we get rid of the ballot initiative process. Any legislator who feels otherwise should be ashamed of themselves for trying to prevent some of us from using it simply because they do not agree with the topic.
