We were longtime residents of Cape Elizabeth before going south to the Caribbean, then to this little piece of tranquility in the midst of the overpowering South Florida region.

Along the way, I have been fortunate enough to be able to get the e-Edition of the paper every day.

The quality and scope of the reporting on local, national and international news have clearly improved greatly over the past two years, to the point where the coverage by this paper is often preferable to that of larger chains such as The New York Times, The Boston Globe or The Washington Post.

The depth and range of articles printed today about local issues and the vagaries of the current governor are impressive.

We still have a place at Diamond Cove, which we use to beat the heat here. Reading the Press Herald makes us feel like we still belong in Maine, and it helps keep us current on the events of the somewhat incomprehensible world we live in.
