Sanford police have charged a 13-year-old boy with felony terrorizing after Sanford Junior High School was evacuated Thursday morning because of a bomb threat.

Staff members decided to evacuate students to the high school after a note containing a bomb threat was found in a boys bathroom around 8:30 a.m.

Once it was determined there was no threat, students were sent back to class shortly before 10 a.m.

A news release from the School Department said a student confessed to writing the note and meant it as a joke.

Thursday is the last day of classes before April vacation.
