A Portland man was arrested late Monday night on charges that he entered the home of a neighbor without permission and assaulted her with a knife.
Charles Carswell, 47, was charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, assault and burglary.
He has been held at Cumberland County Jail since his arrest and is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
According to police, the unidentified woman, who lives in Delaware Court, an apartment complex off Allen Avenue, was watching television Monday when Carswell came into her home and stood over her with a knife.
The woman recognized him, police said.
Carswell threatened her and the two struggled, according to police, but she was able to flee with only a cut on her hand.
Police found Carswell at his residence and arrested him.
