KENNEBUNKPORT — It’s another sign that summer is around the corner in Maine: Former President George H.W. Bush has arrived in Kennebunkport.
The president and Barbara Bush traveled this week from Texas to their summer home at Walker’s Point.
Last summer, Bush made headlines by skydiving on his 90th birthday in Maine. He also took the ice bucket challenge and met with former U.S. Rep. Gabby Giffords and her husband, former astronaut Mark Kelly.
Bush has spent every summer in Kennebunkport except during World War II, when he was a naval aviator.
As president, Bush was known for jogging, tennis and fast-paced golf at the “summer White House.” He’s now using a wheelchair because of a form of Parkinsonism that has affected his legs.
