CPB2’s plan for the Portland Co. property on Fore Street is one of the most thought-through, well-defined and well-designed, forward-thinking projects now in the planning stages.
It will boost economic development, provide needed balance to a relatively undeveloped part of the waterfront and add to Portland’s growing reputation as a modern, thriving metropolitan city.
If the naysayers can step back and gain perspective, they will see a development project that will welcome artists, small businesses and restaurants and provides public open spaces and a design concept that complements the historic value of the area.
It includes view corridors that allow the Save the Soul of Portland petitioners to keep their waterfront views.
One of the reasons we moved to Portland is to enjoy an urban environment and to be part of the growth that will make this city one of the best places on the East Coast to live, work and visit. The Portland Co. project will contribute to this vision.
