Jane Chu, chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts, will visit Maine next week, with stops in Portland, Waterville, Lewiston and Brunswick. Chu will meet with artists, students and arts administrators across Maine as a guest of U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree, D-1st District.

On Monday night, Chu will participate in a town hall-style discussion at the Portland Museum of Art with Pingree and Maine Arts Commission Executive Director Julie Richard.

She arrives on Monday and will be in Maine through Wednesday. Her itinerary begins with stops at The Telling Room, the University of Southern Maine in Portland and the PMA. Tuesday, she visits the Maine Film Center in Waterville and Bates College Museum of Art as well as the Somali Bantu Community Association in Lewiston. On Wednesday, she visits Spindleworks, the Bowdoin International Music Festival and the Bowdoin Museum of Art, all in Brunswick.

President Obama appointed her last year.
