SACO — Saco police say they are investigating an attempted robbery that took place Tuesday around 5:16 p.m. at the Little Caesars Pizza shop in Saco.

The suspect, a lone male, tried to rob employees at the shop, located in the Hannaford Plaza at 532 Main St. The man fled on foot heading in the direction of the Kerryman Restaurant and Pub, Deputy Chief Jeffrey C. Holland said in a news release.

A canine team tracked the suspect to Thornton Academy, but the dogs lost the track at the school.

The suspect is described as a white man, 5-9 inches to 6 feet tall, skinny with scruffy facial hair. He was last seen wearing a white or light colored baseball cap, a white shirt covered by a dark green zippered fleece and gray wind pants with snaps down the side. He was also wearing white sneakers.
