A motorcyclist died Saturday after he went off the road in Oxford and hit a tree, the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies said James W. Storey, 39, of Harrison went off Robinson Hill Road shortly before 3 p.m. The stretch of road where the crash occurred is sharply downhill, with a slight curve, deputies said, and Storey was pronounced dead at the scene.

Storey was not wearing a helmet and both speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash, the sheriff’s office said.
