BRIDGTON — The Wells golf team opened up the season on Thursday and would fall to host Lake Region at Bridgton Highlands Country Club.

Wells managed to picked up just a 1/2 point in the match as Lake Region won the team medal by a 188-201 count.

Wells’ Seamus McDonough fired a 40 on the par 36 front nine, but that wasn’t good enough to top Lake Region’s top player, Tyler Walker, who finished with a 38.

The Warriors’ No. 2 golfer, Shawn Ramsey, would earn the only points on the day for Wells as he tied Lake Region’s Ryan Walker with a 47.

Wells’ Mikey Stivaletta (51), Kent Kellar (63), Tom Bucacci (68) and Nate Olsen (70) also competed in the season opener.

The Warriors will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Freeport.
