If foods containing genetically modified organisms are safe and, in fact, a benefit, then why would the industry that produces them want their use kept secret?
It is common sense to label foods that contain GMO foods as such. I urge the U.S. Senate to take a common-sense approach and allow states to require the labeling of GMO foods.
Many postulate that the epidemic of food sensitivities and allergies in the last 30 years is a result of food engineering.
It also seems obvious that technology must be a part of any solution that will feed 7.3 billion humans on earth. It defies logic and common sense that we would use appropriate technologies but hide their use.
It is clear that the jury is still out on the safety-benefit relationship of GMO foods. This seems similar to the debate on the safety-benefit relationship of tobacco use from 30 years ago. Must we repeat the mistakes of history?
Let the people know and choose for themselves.
