Taylor Gilbert scored off a scramble nine minutes into the contest and Mallory Nadeau added an insurance goal as Marshwood beat previously undefeated Cheverus 2-0 in a Class A South field hockey game Thursday afternoon.

Hannah Costin assisted on Nadeau’s goal 3:30 into the second half.

Shannon Giblin stopped five shots to record the shutout for Marshwood (6-2-1). Deirdre Sanborn and Kat Kane split time in goal for Cheverus (8-1), combining for two saves.

MASSABESIC 5, BONNY EAGLE 1: Logan Champlin scored twice for the Mustangs (7-2), who got four second-half goals to pull away from the Scots (3-5) at Standish.

Champlin opened the scoring 10 minutes into the first half. The Scots tied the game on Lexi Galdo’s goal eight minutes before halftime.

Massabesic took the lead for good on a goal by Maggie Redman four minutes into the second half.

Sophia LaFrance and Kaylee St. Laurent added a goal apiece.

Ashlyn Wintle made 15 saves for Bonny Eagle. Massabesic goalie Kelley Wescott made five saves.

PORTLAND 2, WINDHAM 1: Taylor Sargent scored on a redirect with seven minutes remaining to lift the Bulldogs (4-5) over the Eagles (1-6) at Windham.

Windham’s Julia Libby started the scoring with an unassisted goal, and Lauren McIntyre of Portland answered with an unassisted goal a couple minutes later as the teams went to halftime knotted at 1-1.

Gianna Gaudet stopped 17 shots for Portland, while Grace Sawyer had nine saves for the Eagles.

DEERING 3, GORHAM 0: Kerry Wells collected a goal and an assist for Deering (4-5), which scored three goals in the final six minutes to pull away from Gorham (2-7) at Portland.

Kaytlin DiBiase opened the scoring with 5:34 remaining on an assist from Wells, who added an unassisted goal off a corner with 2:41 left.

Mia Thurston closed out the scoring with 20 seconds remaining.

Lillian Frager made five saves to record the shutout.

BIDDEFORD 4, SOUTH PORTLAND 3: Peyton McKeown scored two goals for the Tigers (2-5) in a win over the Red Riots (1-6) at Biddeford.

Hailey Allen got the Tigers started with a goal off a penalty corner from Amber Magnant. Taylor Turgeon scored the winning goal with six minutes left.

South Portland’s goals came from Sophia Cummings, Cierra Mullen and Maddie Hasson.

GREELY 3, POLAND 2: Hannah Rose scored twice in a span of 53 seconds in the first half as the Rangers (3-5) jumped out to an early lead and held off the Knights (2-7) at Cumberland.

Danita Storey and Alyssa Coyne assisted on Rose’s goal at 20:59 into the game, and Coyne also set up the second goal before Desiree Menard answered with an unassisted goal for Poland just before halftime.

Marian Wilcox scored midway through the second half on a rebound to make it 3-1.

Carly King finished up the scoring for the Knights with an assist by Morgan Brousseau.

KENNEBUNK 0, YARMOUTH 0: Liv Kudas finished with 16 saves for Kennebunk (5-2-1) as the Rams played to a scoreless tie against the Clippers (7-0-1) at Kennebunk.

Tori Messina stopped seven shots for Yarmouth.

FALMOUTH 3, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 0: Kate Kelley had a goal and an assist as the Yachtsmen (6-3) shut out the Patriots (5-4) at Falmouth.

Falmouth scored all three goals in the first half, including goals by Lisa Smoluk and Sydney Bell.

SACOPEE VALLEY 5, MCAULEY/WAYNFLETE 0: Abby Mosson had three goals and an assist for the Hawks (5-2) against the Flying Lions (0-7) at South Hiram.

Savanna Marlowe and Elizabeth Ouellette each added a goal and an assist. Lynne Hebert and Hayley Ryan also recorded assists.

YORK 10, CAPE ELIZABETH 0: Devon Datsis scored four goals and also had an assist as the Wildcats (9-0) downed the Capers (0-10) at Cape Elizabeth.

Ali Jones added two goals and an assist, and Lily Posternak distributed three assists.

MCI 4, CAMDEN HILLS 3: April McAlpine’s overtime goal gave the Huskies (6-3) a win over the Windjammers (5-3) in Pittsfield.

Caroline Keefe had 12 saves for Camden Hills.

MT. BLUE 4, BANGOR 0: Adelle Foss scored a pair of goals ad the Cougars (5-3-1) cruised past the Rams (0-8) at Bangor.

Hannah Minns added a goal and an assist, and Hannah LeClair also scored.

MT. VIEW 2, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 1: Megan Mikel scored the go-ahead goal on a breakaway with 7:13 left as the Mustangs (5-3) edged the Phoenix (6-4) at Jay.

Mikel put Mt. View on the board with an assist from Rachelle Ravin less than nine minutes into the game.

Emily Hogan tied it with an unassisted goal 10 minutes into the second half.

SOCCER

YORK 5, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 2: The Wildcats (5-0-2) rallied from an early two-goal deficit to defeat the Patriots (2-4-1) at York.

Izzy DeTroy put the Patriots ahead off a corner kick four minutes into the match, and Kaelyn Woods made it 2-0 at 8:15.

The Wildcats countered just before intermission, on Shannon Todd’s header off a Payton Humphrey corner kick. Halee Bando tied it six minutes into the second half, and Maddie Amidon got the go-ahead goal off a cross from Charlotte Reilly.

Sierra Swasey scored the last two goals, both on 25-yard shots, the first left-footed and the second right-footed.

YARMOUTH 3, WELLS 0: Eavan O’Neil scored on an assist from Sara D’Appolonia midway through the first half, and Cory Langenbach and Gretchen Barbera added second-half goals as the Clippers (4-3) downed the Warriors (2-4) at Yarmouth.

D’Appolonia finished with two assists.

Yarmouth keeper Meredith Lane made two saves. Lauren Bartlett stopped 12 shots for Wells.

MT. ARARAT 1, LEWISTON 0: Erin Tome with 2:03 left in the second overtime to give Mt. Ararat (6-1-1) a win over Lewiston (3-4-1) at Topsham.

Kate Guerin made four saves for the shutout. Lewiston keeper Kelsey St. Cyr stopped eight shots.

BRUNSWICK 3, HAMPDEN ACADEMY 0: Kira Wolpow scored a pair of goals as the Dragons (6-1-1) topped the Broncos (3-4-1) at Brunswick.

Anna Kousky and Jenna Brooks each had an assist on Wolpow’s goals, and Brooks also contributed an unassisted goal.

Eliza Eastman of Hampden and Beth Labbe of Brunswick each recorded nine saves.

VOLLEYBALL

GREELY 3, BIDDEFORD 0: Hannah Butland recorded five aces, one kill and 21 assists for the Rangers (6-2) as they cruised past the Tigers (2-5) at Biddeford, 25-15, 25-10 and 25-15.

Molly Chapin added 10 kills, and Coco Petrone collected five aces, two kills and 24 digs.

THORNTON ACADEMY 3, WINDHAM 0: Ashley Howe had eight kills and two blocks, and Kylee Austin added eight kills and four aces to lead the Trojans (8-1) past the Eagles (4-3) at Saco, 25-19, 25-22 and 25-16.

Kaylee Burns chipped in with seven kills.

Windham was led by Cassie Fleck with six kills and two aces.

CAPE ELIZABETH 3, GORHAM 0: Maddie Bowe had 10 kills and three blocks to pace the Capers (5-2) in a win over visiting Gorham (3-4), 25-15, 25-20 and 25-18.

Maggie Dadmun had a total of 33 assists, while Lydia Brennerman came up with 15 digs.

SOUTH PORTLAND 3, PORTLAND 0: Taylor Bacheldor led the Red Riots (3-3) with seven aces in a 25-22, 25-18, 25-19 over the Bulldogs (1-6) at South Portland.

Kayla Brown added five aces and Molly Mawhinney contributed five kills.

The Bulldogs had strong service efforts from Jess Brown and Sophia Silva.
