Luke Laverdiere, Yarmouth cross country: Laverdiere turned in the fastest time in the state this season when he won a 5K race by a minute, finishing in 16:09 on his home course in a five-school meet that featured a boys’ field of 74. Laverdiere is undefeated this season and will race in the Manchester Invitational in New Hampshire on Saturday.

HONORABLE MENTION

Reed Foehl, Portland golf: Foehl shot a 3-under 33 on the front nine of Riverside Golf Course in a match against South Portland. Foehl, the Bulldogs’ No. 1 player, eagled the first hole, made birdies on Nos. 4 and 5 and bogeyed No. 2. He has a 37.2 scoring average and is undefeated.

Jacob Nason, Greely soccer: Nason scored three goals, including the winner on a penalty kick in overtime, to give the Rangers a 5-4 win at Cape Elizabeth. The victory ended a four-game losing streak. Nason also scored in a 4-2 loss to Kennebunk.

Ben Palizay, Brunswick football: Palizay scored three touchdowns and rushed for 107 yards in helping the Dragons (3-0) stay unbeaten with a 58-27 win over Cony.

GIRLS

Blanca Alonso, Traip Academy soccer: The junior forward continued her scoring tear with three goals in a 5-0 win against Old Orchard Beach and two in a 6-0 victory against Pine Tree Academy. Alonso has 13 goals in her last four games.

HONORABLE MENTION

Ellie Schad, Greely soccer: Schad’s goal early in the second half held up in a 1-0 win against Cape Elizabeth on Monday. Schad also scored in a 4-1 victory against Kennebunk.

Sydney Richard, Windham field hockey: Richard scored two goals and also had an assist in a 4-1 win over South Portland – the Eagles’ first victory of the season.

Libby Pomerleau, Thornton Academy field hockey: Pomerleau scored five goals in a pair of wins, including four in a 5-2 victory over Westbrook.
