YORK — Kennebunk rallied from an early 14- 0 deficit with 42 unanswered points to pick up a 42- 14 win over host York on Friday night and improve to 4- 0 on the season. “It was huge for us … a great night,” said Kennebunk coach Joe Rafferty.

York got two touchdowns from Cullen McCarty to take a 14- 0 lead, but Kennebunk started to rally with a six- yard touchdown run from Thomas Wildes to make it 14- 7 at the break. The Rams would get a twoyard touchdown run from Pat Saunders early in the third to tie the game at 14-14.

Kennebunk quarterback Justin Wiggins put the Rams on top for the first time with a 61-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter.

The Rams would then run away from the Wildcats thanks to a one-yard scoring run from Saunders and a pair of defensive scores. Cam Lovejoy picked off a York pass and returned it 30 yards for the score and then Wildes would take an interception 95 yards to the house to make it 42-14.

Rafferty was happy with how his team responded to the early deficit.

“We just got better on defense and more consistent on offense,” said Rafferty of how the Rams turned the game around.

Wiggins finished with a team-high 184 rushing yards on 17 carries as the Rams ran the ball 41 times for an impressive 309 yards.

Kennebunk will host Mount Ararat next Saturday.
