Candidates seeking a position on the Cape Elizabeth Town Council or school board in the Nov. 3 election will be featured in a “Candidates Night” next week at Town Hall.

Seven candidates are vying to fill three open council seats, and four candidates are in the running for three available school board seats. All positions are for three-year terms.

The forum, organized by students in Ted Jordan’s U.S. Government class at Cape Elizabeth High School, is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 7-9 p.m. in the Town Hall chamber.

Candidates Night is open to the public and will be broadcast on the town’s public access television channel.

According to Jordan, students will lead the forum, but residents who attend the event will also have a chance to ask the candidates questions by writing them down on index cards. Those who plan to watch the event from home can call the phone number that will appear on their television during the broadcast to pose questions.

Incumbent Town Councilor Jessica Sullivan is competing for a seat against former Cape Elizabeth councilor Sara Lennon and newcomers Victoria Volent, Roger Bishop, Ralph Miller, Imogene Altznauer, and James Garvin.

Candidates seeking a seat on the school board include William Gross III, Heather Altenburg, John Voltz, and former school board member Elizabeth Scrifres.
