Investigators with the State Fire Marshal’s Office charged a New York man with setting fire to an unoccupied building in Vassalboro on Oct. 6.

Devaughn James, 23, of Queens is being held on $100,000 bail in Kennebec County Jail in Augusta. Authorities arrested him Friday in Chelsea, where he was a passenger in a car that police had stopped, police said.

The building that burned was a seasonal camp that had been moved to Whitehouse Road in Vassalboro and was valued at $25,000, police said. James was staying with friends across the street from where the building burned.
