South Portland voters on Tuesday elected incumbent Linda Cohen and political newcomer Eben Rose to the City Council, and Libby Reynolds to the School Board.

Rose defeated Ernest Stanhope for the District 3 council seat being vacated by Melissa Linscott. The vote was 2,476 to 1,500.

In District 4, Cohen, who has served as mayor this year, defeated challenger Andrew Snyder by a vote of 2,785 to 1,127.

In the District 4 School Board race, Reynolds defeated Matthew Perkins by a vote of 1,898 to 1,637. James Gilboy gave up the seat in July after his wife was hired for a job in the school district.

Turnout at the polls was 22.7 percent, with 4,290 of 18,874 registered voters casting ballots.

School Board incumbents Richard Matthews and Tappan Fitzgerald ran unopposed for the District 3 and District 5 seats.
