OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Henry “Joe “ Bouvier, 83, of Harmon Avenue, passed away Nov. 2, 2015, at his residence with his family by his side, after battling pancreatic cancer for 11 months.

He was born in Biddeford on July 25, 1932 the son of Urbain and Bella Tanguay Bouvier.

He attended Biddeford schools, where he was a triple-letter athlete.

He soon became a professional boxer and was the welterweight champion of Maine in 1951. In 1953 he was drafted in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean Conflict.

He worked as a brick mason until he became disabled by a 40-foot fall in 1988. He never quit being a dedicated father and grandfather.

He is survived by: two brothers, Ralph Bouvier and his wife Maria, and Joseph Paul Bouvier and his wife Annette; two sisters, Emeline Moreau, and Irene Bouvier; a godchild, Lola Blackstone; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by Diane Wormwood and Edmond Wormwood.

In 1978, he met Donna Caron, who remained his life partner until his death. Upon meeting her, he became stepfather to Patricia, Robert, Michelle, Brenda, LaDonna and Michael and a greatgrandfather to Maria, along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Friends and relatives may call on Saturday, Nov. 7 from 11 a.m. to noon at the Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main St., Saco. A noontime service will immediately follow with Pastor Merle Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at St. Josephs Cemetery.
